Our Story

A Story of Transformation

Nestled in the highlands surrounding Lake Toba, one of the world's largest volcanic lakes, our community of farmers has been cultivating exceptional Arabica coffee for generations. The volcanic soil, high altitude, and unique microclimate create ideal conditions for specialty-grade beans.

Through our partnership with Seedlot, these farming families have gained access to sustainable agricultural practices, fair market prices, and the tools needed to expand their operations while preserving the land that sustains them.

"USAID suddenly left. We are very happy Seedlot came along with a program to replace it."

Sustainable Practices

The Agroforestry Approach

Our Lake Toba community practices shade-grown coffee cultivation, integrating coffee plants with native trees and companion crops. This biodiversity-rich approach mimics natural forest ecosystems, creating resilient farms that benefit both the environment and crop quality.

  • Enhanced biodiversity through native tree integration
  • Natural carbon sequestration and climate mitigation
  • Improved soil health and water retention
  • Climate resilience through diverse farming systems
